Project templates

Repositories whose files new projects start from. Any repository the VaaS GitHub App covers with a main branch works; it does not need GitHub's "Template repository" setting. The default is preselected on the new-project form.

A template with a vaas.Dockerfile on main gets a sandbox built from it: projects created from the template start their sandboxes with the dev server already running. It is built when the template is added; rebuild it after the Dockerfile or the template's code changed.

Add a template

The repository has to be covered by the VaaS GitHub App, belong to an organisation and use “main” as its default branch. New projects get a copy of its files on main. Label and description cannot be changed later; remove the template and add it again.
